Getting to Know Sicily

Why should I visit Sicily?

A holiday in Sicily is unforgettable. With perfect weather for the majority of the year, beautiful beaches, atmospheric towns, stunning architecture, delectable food and an incredible past, what's not to love! Sicily has something for everyone. Get inspired by out Top Ten Must-Do in Sicily infographic!

How long does it take to visit all of Sicily?

It could take a life time! Sicily is the largest island in the Mediterranean and there is so very much to see. Travelling across the island takes several hours. We suggest spending two weeks in Sicily, the first in one part of the island and the second in another (check out our Two-Centre Holiday ideas) - you won't be able to see everything, but you will get a good overview of this beautiful island which will hopefully make you want to visit this fascinating place again!

How do I choose which area of Sicily to visit?

Sicily offers so much - there is a huge range of beach types, landscapes, activities, cuisines and historical sights to enjoy all over the island - that it can be tricky to choose where to go. Our Client Managers are experts on all things Sicilian, so if you are looking for something specific, they will be glad to help you plan a Sicilian holiday that is perfectly suited to your needs. Get some inspiration with our Guide to Sicily.

Is it easy to fly to Sicily?

You can fly from international destinations directly into four different airports: Palermo, Catania, Trapani and Comiso. For full details of flights from the UK, Europe and US, please see our Travel to Sicily section.

How can I get around in Sicily?

The best way to get around Sicily is by car. Public transport is not always reliable, nor is it always efficient, and so to really discover all of the beautiful beaches, towns and sights, we recommend hiring a car.

How suitable are the beaches in Sicily for families?

The beaches in Sicily vary enormously, ranging from wide sweeping beaches with shallow water and white sand to small rocky inlets. Traditional Italian lidi with rows of sun beds and umbrellas are ideal for families but there are also many deserted rocky bays and coves throughout the island. Take a look at our Top Beaches in Sicily and plan your holiday!

How safe is Sicily?

In spite of the stereotypical clichés, Sicily is a very safe place and provided you take the usual precautions, you should not have any problems. Don't believe all that you see in the films - visit Sicily and you will be met by warm, friendly and kind people!

Browsing Through Our Villas

I am new to your website: how can I browse through your villas?

Firstly, thanks for visiting! Choose how to search for your dream villa from the menu on the left of the homepage. Our Villa Collection page enables you to browse through our villas according to their features, geographical area and so on. Or go to our Villa Ideas page if you want to browse through the villas according to holiday type and personal preferences.

There are so many villas, how do I find the perfect for me?

Take a look at our Villa Ideas page for inspiration. Browse through our collections of villas according to what sort of holiday in Sicily you are after. Don't forget, you can also always get in touch with our Client Managers who are experts at finding the perfect villa for all of our guests.

How do I know if the villa is available when I want it?

Just get in touch! If you are interested in specific dates for a villa, drop a line to our Client Managers and they will let you know if the property is free. If not, they will suggest something similar that will be ideal for you and your guests!

Are the pools open all year round?

Pools are usually open from around May to October, when Sicily's weather is at its very best. However, if you wish to use a pool during the low season please check to see if individual arrangements are specified on the villa page, otherwise contact your Client Manager.

Is the pool heated?

Usually not, and only when specified. Sicily has such gorgeous weather that a heated pool is rarely necessary! A supplement is payable locally if pool heating is required.

All of our villas have at least one cot and one high-chair. If more are needed then please get in touch. Some of our villas are particularly suited to children. Take a look at our Child-Friendly catalogue for more inspiration.

Are small children included in the villa's occupancy?

Children under three years of age are not included in the villa's occupancy. If it is stated that a villa accommodates 10 guests, this generally means 10 adults as small children can sleep in cots. When travelling with small children, please discuss the arrangements with your Client Manager.

Do you have any pet-friendly villas?

Yes! You don't have to leave your pets at home! Take a look at our Pet-Friendly range of villas!

Do you offer any flexibility with arrival days or length of stay?

During the summer season our holidays start and finish on Saturdays. However, during the low season we offer more flexibility. Get in touch if you are interested in a shorter holiday, or one that starts at a different time during the week. Our Client Managers will try to make your flexible holiday a reality. Check out our Flexible Villas catalogue to find out more.

Are your villas safe?

Despite some old-fashioned stereotypes, Sicily is a safe place to visit and all soloSicily villas are located in safe areas. Every soloSicily villa is also secure, with a fence or wall surrounding the property.

Will there be any animals on the villa property?

Local wildlife such as small mammals, birds and insects - as well as stray cats and dogs - can sometimes be seen around our rural villas. Please keep doors and windows closed and clean up any food as soon as possible to avoid attracting any wildlife. If animals are a real problem for you, please discuss this with your Client Manager so that the most suitable property can be found for you.
