The Deep South and the Iblea Riviera

Villas in south-east Sicily

South East CoastCapo Passero is the southernmost tip of Italy, one of the vertexes of Trinacria, where the Ionian Sea flows into the Mediterranean Sea. The coast consists of both white cliffs beaten by strong winds and sandy coves, where light is blinding and the sea scent intense. Facing it you can see the little Isola delle Correnti, once joined to the land by an isthmus of sand.

The long, shallow and sandy Iblea Coast begins near Marzamemi and houses a large number of delicious sea resorts: Santa Maria del Focallo, with its beach Porto Ulisse, and Pozzallo, a little town developed around a fortress built by the earls of Modica in the XIV century to protect the local supply of corn from the threat of pirate attacks. Marina di Modica boasts the splendid cliff Punta Religione. Sampieri, outlying village within the municipality of Scicli, is very crowded in the summertime, and renowned for its promenade and fine sand shores. Marina di Ragusa is the most famous sea resort in Southeastern Sicily, equipped with a variety of tourist facilities. Lovely is also Punta Secca, a tiny port for both pleasure and fishing boats, next to an extremely white sandy beach with blue crystal water. Among the wonderful beaches around Licata, the place of honor is occupied by Baia della Mollarella, a deep landing-place situated between two headlands.
