soloGuide to Sicily: General Information

Golf in Sicily

Sicily is increasingly becoming a great golf-tourism destination, with 2 professional 18 hole courses and others planned to be built, such as Rocco Forte Golf Club in Verdura (Agrigento). Our island gives you the chance to enjoy this sport with a lovely sunny climate, in suggestive locations, without too many crowds around.

Il Picciolo Golf Club  (18 hole) - Linguaglossa (Catania)
Il Picciolo Golf Club is the first golf course ever made in Sicily. It was designed in 1989 by Luigi Rota Caremoli. The beautiful 18 holes stretch among oaks, hazeltrees and vineyards. Mt Etna is its major attraction, looming peacefully above and sometimes offering the amazing show of its lava pouring all around. The fresh air cooling hot summer temperatures and the height (650 mt above sea level) allow you to relax and forget the frenetic rhythms of city life. From the close town of Linguaglossa, at approximately 4 km distance, you can start exciting excursions to Mt. Etna. Very close you may find another extraordinary natural monument: the Alcantara Gorges, with their fascinating caves, falls and icy waters. Taormina and its charming atmosphere is only at 25 km distance. Reaching “Il Picciolo” from Catania airport, you can enjoy the peaceful sight of “Riviera dei Limoni”.

Le Madonie Golf Club (18 hole) - Cefalù (Palermo)
Le Madonie Golf Club stretches between Madonie Natural Park and Cefalù Gulf, on a plain characterized by Saracen olives, orange and lemon groves, almond and carob trees. The 18 hole international standard golf course is equipped with putting, pitching and chipping greens and a twentysix-places driving range. Designed by Luigi Rota Caremoli, this par 72 golf course extends over 6.000 square metres. Its pleasant layout, with five artificial lakes, a diffuse presence of bunkers, and the over 3.000 secular olive trees, 2.000 orange and lemon trees and about 100 carob trees make the course quiet and challenging for any player.
