Overview
Whenever we receive a special request from mommies and daddies looking to whip up the perfect family holiday in a lively and accessible part of northern Sicily, Villa Nespola is always on top of our list of suitable properties. To cut right down to the chase, here is a villa that simply has it all – family fun, a sleekly modern interior, a glorious sea view, a sensational pool with a sexy twist, spacious terraces, and a private garden. It also happens to be located in one of the most formidable spots on the Tyrrhenian coast of our island. Vivacious Palermo and the splendid beach towns east of it are only a blink of an eye away. So between the villa itself and its fantastic location, we can’t really decide which is more dazzling. We’ll let you be the judge.
Property details
As you wait anxiously for the wooden front gate to swing open, you’ll get a pleasant sneak peek at the green tops of Villa Nespola’s towering trees. A wholesome, reassuring warmth slowly makes its way up your spine as soon as you’re in full view of the tangerine-tinted home. Out of the corner of your right eye, you can’t help but notice the curvy contours of the swimming pool. Definitely something to look into.
As you step into the commodious dining and living room area on the ground floor, you immediately get a feel for the trendy, minimalist style of the interior’s furnishings. The handsome American bar built with “Pietra Viva”, a type of bare stone whose name literally means “stone of life”, does wonders for the coolness of the space. Moving towards the back of the home, you will find a double bedroom with a light tropical touch, a room with two bunk beds for the boisterous boys, and clean-cut bathroom. The stark contrast of blue and yellow adds an air of friendliness to the fitted kitchen out front. From the dining area, a sleek, metal staircase leads you to the first floor, where some more goodies are stashed. And by goodies, we mean the lovely sitting area, the twin bedroom exclusively furnished for children, and the master bedroom which opens up onto the scenic terrace. It is here that we hope you will spend many clear Sicilian days staring out at the Aeolian Archipelago at the edge of the horizon.
There will also be plenty of opportunities to enjoy some quality family time around that tempting pool…you probably wouldn’t have noticed its alternating shades of azure, the sun shower, or the way it’s delectably nestled in the private garden when you first caught sight of it. And let’s not leave out the fully-equipped barbecue area and the wood-burning oven. How about that grill party you’ve been looking forward to?
Area details
Villa Nespola is located in Trabia, a small farming town located a few miles east of Palermo. It’s gentle hills and narrow flatlands run along the length of the marvellous coastline and beaches that characterize this cheerful area of northern Sicily. The monuments, shops, and restaurants of downtown Palermo and the charismatic fishing village of Cefalù are merely a short drive away. If you’re in the mood for longer excursions, the Archaeological Park of Tyndaris to the east and the Greek Temple of Segesta to the west, are highly recommendable. And for the more adventurous, the pristine landscapes, untouched nature, and trekking paths of the Madonie Mountains are certainly worth the 1 hr drive into the interior of the island.
