Overview
It’s hip, it’s cool, it’s as private as a villa in Sicily could ever get, and the sea view from it’s infinity pool will make your jaw drop. Way, way down. That’s Casa d’Eraclea for you in a nutshell. Standing graciously on a hill overlooking a secluded beach in a quiet corner of southwest Sicily, Casa d’Eraclea is that special holiday hideaway you’ve spent so many hours on the internet looking for. The design of the home itself is deliciously modern, with symmetrical angles characterising its exterior and colourful shades of orange, yellow, and blue setting the tone of the interior. It’s located only 30 km away from Agrigento, so the opportunities for cultural exploration and beach fun are limitless. (We’re pinching ourselves so we don’t repeat the thing about the mind-blowing infinity pool again!)
Property details
About 2 minutes after you turn off the main road, the never-ending blue waters of the Mediterranean Sea come into view. You stop the car because you simply have to take a photo of the landscape. You try to figure out how far away Africa really is. Mmmm.
Casa d’Eraclea is set at the bottom of a cascading spread of bare stone steps. The property rests high above a hill that peers directly onto a sandy beach and the pine forest that lies at its foot. Grand, just grand. But that infinity swimming pool out front makes you forget everything else as soon as you lay eyes on it. The pool water seems to extend out into the horizon and it becomes one with the sea. Wicked. You take a look around and find a flirtatious outdoor dining area behind the pool and a barbecue nook just to the right of it. The white exterior and symmetrical angles of the villa definitely give off an air of freshness. The grounds of the property have just the right size as well, not too big that things become impersonal, and not too small that you feel restrained in any way.
The interior of the villa is the epitome of Mediterranean modernism. White and orange walls provide the background for blue sofas and light, wooden bookshelves. The yellow-tiled kitchen is suavely hidden behind a diagonal wall and the indoor dining table sits in front of it. That lively, colourful theme also extends into the four bedrooms, which are smartly distributed between the two floors of the home. A mini-gym consisting of a bench press, weight-lifting equipment, and a treadmill can be found on the first floor. So whenever you want to burn some calories, you know where to go!
Area details
Casa d’Eraclea is located in Eraclea Minoa, a small village located about 30 km away from Agrigento on the south western coast of Sicily. The villa overlooks a long, photogenic beach which is bordered by a vivid pine forest and soaring white marl cliffs. It literally takes 10 minutes to walk down to the sandy beach and sea. The area is a haven of serenity and the hoards of tourists don’t usually come out here. Eraclea Minoa is also home to an archaeological site that lies on the headland above the coastline. With the Valley of the Temples, Sciacca’s thermal pools, and the Greek ruins of Selinunte only a short drive away, Casa d’Eraclea is a lovely pick for a truly well-rounded holiday.
Additional Information
The swimming pool is open to guests from 29th March to 8th November. The pool is available out of season for an additional charge of € 200 per week.
Since, even in the hot summer - thanks to the house position above the pinewood of Eraclea Minoa - Casa d'Eraclea is usually very cool, air conditioning is unnecessary. However, the villa is equipped with ceiling fans.
