Overview
Are you a fan of Trivial Pursuit? Alright then, here’s a question for you: which soloSicily property lies high up in the hills above Palermo, has an incredible view over Mondello Bay, sits amongst a haven of lush Palm trees, comes with an enchanting swimming pool, and is located so close to the main motorway that we consider it a gateway to the sights of north-western Sicily?
Answer : Villa Borbone…..good job!
If you’re the kind of person who savours suburban tranquillity, but the prospect of exploring Palermo’s sights and sounds tickles your fancy like mad too, then we think you’d find Villa Borbone pretty hard to resist. The villa also gets extra bonus points for the fact that it is situated only 5 minutes away from our local headquarters, is furbished tastefully with antique furnishings, and has a dedicated on-site caretaker ready to cater to your every need.
Property details
You make that right-hand turn off the main motorway and you are suddenly transported into a completely different world. The honking of cars and the loud noises of the city fade away suddenly as a quiet street takes you up the green hill to the villa. The automatic gate slides open and George the caretaker waves to you with a huge grin and courteously shows you where to park.
Once you step inside, a graceful, homely living room with antique furnishings, an open fireplace, large windows, and an aquamarine-dyed ceiling will have you feeling all warm and fuzzy. As you move down the main corridor of the ground floor, a country-style kitchen on the right leaves you yearning for some home-made marmalade, and the stately dining room on the left tempts you to wander off onto the covered veranda. At the end of this corridor, a lemon-green sitting room with a heating furnace from the 1920’s and an impeccable view over Palermo opens up into 3 classic bedrooms. Rising up from the main living room, a regal wooden staircase adorned with old Turkish carpets leads you to the first floor. Here, an extensive library and the scholarly study space will trigger your academic curiosity. At both ends of the library, you will find a cuddly bedroom.
Villa Borbone is set amidst a phenomenal maze of olive, citrus, and palm trees. The swimming pool rests calmly between a wall of rocks and a bed of yellow flowers on the lower deck of the home. A gigantic hammock has been placed at the far side of the pool and this is where you will probably end up reading (and finishing) the latest bestselling novel. On the upper deck, you’ll find another garden which is ideal for some philosophical reflection. Last but not least, there is an adorable BBQ terrace on the south side of the villa where you can grill and feast on those delicious Sicilian Salsiccia sausages.
Area details
Villa Borbone lies in the hills above Palermo. It is far enough from the city centre to allow you the serenity you came looking for, yet near enough to the interesting sights of our fascinating capital that you don’t feel daunted by long drives in the car. The historical centre is a 10-minute drive away, as are the lovely seaside towns of Mondello and Sferracavallo beaches. If you get the urge to venture a little farther off to the beaches of Cefalù or the medieval treasures of Erice, the motorway is practically at your doorstep. Villa Borbone is also located very close to our office in Sicily (5-minute drive), so it would be a pleasure to introduce you to all our staff.
Additional Information
We strongly recommend Villa Borbone to those customers who are looking for a quiet and peaceful spot within the urban area that will allow them to enjoy cultural events, must-see attractions, and seaside activities after a short drive.
