Overview
Life can be pretty sweet when you don’t do what people expect you to do. So while everyone else is headed off to the beach resorts, you can choose a very different kind of holiday at Case Sgadari. A less predictable one, right in the heart of the Natural Park of the Madonie Mountains. Perched high above sea level near the ancient town of Petralia Soprana, this old manor farm has been stylishly renovated and is now equipped with a complete range of modern comforts. The view from its panoramic pool will simply take your breath away. This secret corner of Sicily, where a single bird chirp echoes out for miles and miles, is the ideal spot for nature lovers who like trekking, making excursions on horseback, and staying in touch with their inner peace.
Property details
After a scenic drive through the winding roads of the Madonie mountains, you arrive at Case Sgadari. You immediately begin to wonder…did time start standing still somewhere along the way? A spacious courtyard greets you warmly and then leads you to several communal areas such as the charming old stable, the “Poker” room, and the gorgeous dining room. The old stable, with its arched ceilings, has been converted into a recreational space warmly decorated with leather sofas and horse saddles. The so-called “Poker” room is actually an elegant mini-ballroom of sorts fashioned with stone walls and antique paintings. We just love the idea of playing a hand of Texas Hold'em in there! The dining room won’t fail to amaze you either. It’s the brightest room of the estate and opens up into a huge terrace with an awesome outlook. Case Sgadari’s 4 suites each have their own patio, cooking facilities, and air-conditioning (except one that remains cool even in the height of summer thanks to its ingenious construction). They are all very roomy and can comfortably sleep up to 20 guests.
Imagine you’re the ruler of your own kingdom in a land far, far away… where the hectic pace of everyday life is none of your concern. That’s how we felt as we walked through the Italian garden, a wood of oak and conifer trees with quite corners for you to soak up the tranquillity of the place. And now for the best part – the panoramic swimming pool. It has a spectacular view of the rolling hills below. While you are sunbathing on the pool deck, the only sound you will hear is the occasional tinkle of a shepherd’s bell as he drives his flock of sheep across the slopes.
Area details
Case Sgadari is located close to Petralia in the Natural Park of the Madonie Mountains, a 40,000-hectare reserve that represents one of the most scenic and untouched areas in Sicily. The park offers visitors the opportunity to explore its woods, pastures, peaks, gorges, rivers, and vineyards. It also spans across several old yet well-preserved mountain villages and towns such as Polizzi Generosa, Petralia Sottana and Soprana, Ganci, Sperlinga, Gibilmanna and Geraci Siculo. They hold an astounding wealth of historical monuments and many serve as a trekking base for the Madonie. If you get a sudden urge for a sea and sun break, the sandy beaches of Cefalù are only 37 miles away. In the colder months, the little winter resort of Piano Battaglia comes to life and fills up with enthusiastic skiers. All of this is pretty hard to beat, wouldn’t you say?
