Overview
When arriving to Perla Nera, you immediately feel you are in a really out-of-the-ordinary place. The radiance of well-tended lawns, the luxuriant bloom of ancient roses, jasmines and camelias, the citrus fruits peeping out from branches, the abundance of trees and ornamental hedges makes you soon imagine sunny mornings walking in the garden, gazing at the glory of colours and breathing the fragrance of flowers and plants, afternoons spent reading in bright and quiet corners, children roving happily about flowerbeds. Then, when you get to the fabulous swimming pool, totally built with black lava stone, you realize how you've been lucky in booking your holiday here: the still sapphire blue water, the dark green trees all around, the tall palms in front of a reassuring stone wall make you feel as if you were in an ancient royal palace of which you are the new privileged king. Where else could you feel the same sensation? And you still have the whole house to discover! As well as the close Etna, or Taormina a few miles away, or the other innumerable places you might visit, if you were tempted to leave this little eden... Will you do that?
Property details
Perla Nera is a lush aristocratic residence dating back to the early 1500 and developing on 2 levels. On the ground floor you'll find a first hall with fireplace, and a second hall hosting the old olive press of the estate. Further ahead, along a corridor furnished with antique pieces and elegant sofas, you'll find 3 bathrooms, a dining room, and 2 French windows opening onto a wonderful terrace. On this floor there are also a large Sicilian-style kitchen with even a fireplace, a living/dining room area, and a sleeping quarter with 2 double bedrooms and a twin, both in sober classical style. The ground floor bedrooms open onto the terrace at the back of the house. On the first floor you'll find a second sleeping quarter, with one double bedroom and a twin. All bedrooms have en-suite batherooms.
Perla Nera is surrounded by an extensive well-tended lawn hosting a wide variety of Mediterranean flowers, plants and trees. The garden also hosts the spectacular swimming pool with hydrojet, built with black lava stone, which gives the water an extraordinary deep blue tinge, 2 magnificent large winter gardens with citrus fruit trees, a large barbecue area and a beautiful gym both overlooking the pool, and finally, next to the swimming pool, you can find a changing room with bathrooms at guests' disposal.
Area details
Perla Nera is located in Viagrande, a characteristic village on the south side of the Etna, where you can find all you might need. Among the several villages in the Etna hinterland, we suggest you Bronte - where you can visit the beautiful Admiral Nelson's Castle - Randazzo - where people with 3 different religions and cultures lived peacefully together in the past - and Castiglione di Sicilia - where you can find a splendid 18-holes golf course. As a spectacular naturalistic excursion, we advise you the Alcantara Gorges and their fascinating canyons, and of course a guided trip to the Etna craters from Nicolosi, the so-called "gate to the Etna". We warmly recommend a visit to Catania and Acireale as well, whose historical centres are rich in imposing baroque monuments. Finally, you cannot leave Sicily without visiting the unmissable Taormina, famous for its Greek-Roman remains, historical monuments of different ages, wonderful views on the Etna and the Ionian Sea, and innumerable cultural events all the year round.
Additional Information
The newly refurbished dependence is available for extra guests. Here you'll have 1 double bedroom with en-suite bathroom, 1 twin bedroom with en-suite bathroom, living room and fitted kitchenette.
NB The use of the wood-burning owen by the BBQ area has an extra cost of € 100- to pay locally (wood included) and will be monitored by a caretaker in grounds.
