Overview
Walk from your bedroom to the beach without even putting on your flip-flops, let alone packing up the car. Amaltea is a small and simple cottage, but with a garden and location that knock spots off other large holiday cottages.
Property
Amaltea gives ‘sea-front’ a whole new meaning. The cottage is surrounded by a huge garden with a gate at the far end that opens straight on to a picture postcard sandy beach.
Outside: Access to the cottage is along a palm tree lined track. The garden in front of the cottage is simply magnificent, with a huge stretch of lawn that leads down to a secluded white sandy beach. Although the beach is not private, its inaccessible location means that it generally remains very quiet and often, deserted. Rows of towering palms line the garden, interrupted only by sun loungers and the odd thatched sun shade.
There are several outdoor eating areas. A covered patio at the front of the cottage provides shade when the sun is at its hottest while at the back, there is a very well-equipped outdoor kitchen with a barbecue, wood-burning pizza oven, sink, cupboards and, of course, dining-table and chairs.
An outside shower is provided and guests have use of a pedalo which is kept at the end of the garden.
Guests at Amaltea should be aware that the villa is directly adjacent to, and shares most of the outdoor areas with, another property (Zafira). To guarantee complete privacy, or if you are considering holidaying with friends, we recommend booking both properties.
Inside: Once inside, a small corridor leads to a kitchen-dining area, comprising a pretty tiled and well-equipped kitchen area, with a dining table and chairs, and a sofa. A back door leads directly out to the outdoor kitchen. There are two bedrooms, a double and a bunk bed room with extra single bed. The bathroom is quite small, with a toilet and shower.

Local Sights
With the nearest beach right on your doorstep, it may be difficult to leave the idyllic setting at Amaltea. However, there is lots to see and do near this villa. Enjoy the gorgeous beaches found at the Vendicari Nature Reserve, where you will also find a fascinating variety of wildlife. Or visit the lovely beaches at Pozzallo or Marina di Ragusa. Nature-lovers will also enjoy the Cassibile Nature Reserve and its 10 km set of trails and stunning scenery.
South-east Sicily has a wealth of Baroque architecture in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of the Val di Noto. Visit towns such as Modica, Ragusa Ibla, Noto and Scicli and be amazed at the glorious architecture. These towns are perfect for a day spent wandering through charming streets, soaking up the atmosphere and enjoying the views.
Slightly further away is Siracusa. This town is a true testament to Sicily's fascinating and varied past, with glimpses of Greek, Byzantine, Norman and Baroque culture to be seen throughout the city. There are so many great sights to see, from the captivating Ortigia to the archaeological site with its wonderful Greek theatre.
Local Experiences
The nearest village to Amaltea is Ispica, where you can enjoy some relaxed meals at the small restaurants and bars. The town offers everything you could need as a base, and is a brilliant starting point for exploring the area.
In May and June the Greek Theatre in Siracusa holds a festival of Greek plays. A series of Greek tragedies are performed in the beautiful archaeological park, creating an unforgettable evening of theatre for all who visit.
Treat yourself to a night of Sicilian cooking, without having to cook yourself! Book a Cook and a local chef will come to the villa and prepare a delicious meal for your party. If you want to learn how to cook Sicilian dishes then you could book yourself into a cookery class and take home some fantastic recipes and skills.
Guests also have the opportunity to rent a boat for a day. Take to the seas and get to know the Sicilian coast. For those with a passion for water sports, why not visit Pozzallo and enjoy a windsurfing session. There are many great water sports schools where you can rent equipment or have a go at during a lesson. If that sounds too energetic then make your way to Soda Beach, Amaltea's nearest lido, where you can soak up the sun and relax on a sunlounger.
An International Film Festival is held in Marzamemi - a gorgeous seaside town, not too far from the villa - in July. If you happen to be staying at Amaltea during this period it is well worth visiting to enjoy some great films and the lively atmosphere.
During the summer months, sun loungers and umbrellas are set up on the beach for the villa guests and a pedal boat can be rented for € 70 per week.

September 2018
It was a very nice week at this house, we enjoyed it a lot. Our highlight at this pace is the outdoor kitchen and of course the beach. We made pizza in the outdoor oven, it was fun and it tasted so good. All in all it was a fantastic stay here with beautiful memories. Especially the garden with the palm trees got us feeling like summer. Thanks for the stay and the warm welcome! Maybe see you next time!

TUTTO PERFETTO !!!
