Overview
Surrounded by seemingly endless expanses of golden hills, green meadows and long lines of pine and eucalyptus trees, Fattoria Corleonese lies at the very heart of the Sicilian countryside, spiritually a million miles away from the island’s coastal resorts, yet only 50 miles from Palermo. A holiday here is the perfect opportunity to discover true Sicilian hospitality and experience authentic Sicily.
Property
With around 100 hectares of land, the estate dates back to 1873 and it is easy to imagine it in its former aristocratic glory. Milk, cheese, vegetables, fruit and olive oil are still produced here. The accommodation is in part of a manor house overlooking an inner courtyard.
Outside: Walkers can enjoy exploring the acres of farmland and open countryside that encircle the property with woods and meadows filled with walnut, cherry and apples trees. The long 14 metre swimming pool is set slightly away from the house, accessible via a path lined with age-old poplar, pine and eucalyptus trees and surrounded by green lawns. There are plenty of deckchairs and a pool house with a changing-room and toilet.
The accommodation comprises two apartments in the manor house, on either side of a courtyard. The main apartment is on the upper floor and has a large outdoor terrace, overlooking the courtyard, with a table, chairs and umbrella.
Inside: Enter the main apartment from the terrace directly into the living-room which is furnished with sofas and period furniture. Double doors lead through to a rustic kitchen with a dining-table.
A corridor leads to the sleeping quarters. On the left, a twin bedroom (which can be converted to a double) has its own en suite bathroom with shower. There are two double bedrooms (one with air-conditioning) and two further bathrooms, one with a bath and one with a shower.
The second apartment with two bedrooms (one double, one twin) is in the separate newly-refurbished annexe. It also contains a bathroom, toilet, entrance/living room and small kitchenette.
Area
Local Sights
Fattoria Corleonese has a delightful countryside location but is still close to several great Sicilian sights.
Campofiorito is the nearest small town. It isn't a touristy place at all, but is charming and has all that you could need for daily essentials.
A little further away is Corleone, a charming and welcoming town that has very few similarities to the town portrayed in the Godfather films. There are several lovely churches to see and the views of the surrounding countryside are spectacular.
The Bosco di Ficuzza is a great destination for a day trip. Here you can enjoy lush forest and picturesque vistas, as well as the sight of the Palazzo Reale, a hunting lodge for King Ferdinand I of Bourbon.
If you head north you will reach Sicily's exciting capital city Palermo, with all of its museums, churches, markets and vibrant food culture. To get to know modern Sicily, a day trip to this entrancing city is a must. Close to Palermo is Monreale, home to the famous cathedral. For art and history lovers, the outstanding mosaics should not be missed.
Go south and after an hour you will arrive in Sciacca, a lovely seaside town which has a super selection of restaurants all serving up fresh fish. There are some fabulous beaches nearby where you can enjoy south Sicily's natural beauty.
Local Experiences
In the countryside that surrounds Fattoria Corleonese there are some great wineries that produce fantastic wine. Donnafugata - one of the area's best wine producers - has extensive vineyards nearby. Their winery in Marsala is only two hours away by car. Why not visit the cantina? It is open for tasting and tours.
There is also the opportunity to enjoy several guided tours in Palermo. Wander the streets with an expert guide taking in all of the history and beautiful architecture that the city has to offer. Or enjoy a tour of the vibrant food markets, or perhaps even a street food tour, showcasing Palermo's traditional specialities.
Sicily has superb food, and there is a great Agriturismo nearby that serves up delicious pizza as well as great traditional Sicilian fare. You could also Book a Cook and have a wonderful home-style meal cooked for you in the comfort of your own villa. What a treat!
If you're interested in nature, then there is an awful lot to see and do in this area. Near Corleone you will find a wealth of natural treasure, such as the Drago gorges, the Bosco di Ficuzza and the Cascate delle Due Rocche ("Two Rocks Waterfall"). Book a guided tour of the area to discover these beautiful sights.
The pool is open to guests from 4th May to 26th October.
Air conditioning is generally unnecessary, even in the heat of the summer, as the house is usually very cool. However, it is available in one bedroom.
The nearest restaurant, which serves typical Sicilian food and pizzas, is a short drive from the property.
Wine tasting at nearby Cantina Donnafugata can also be organised upon request.

The house is beautiful, the pool area is something out of a film and the hosts are very friendly and gracious. In terms of the service supplied by you , I would say that it is one of the best that we have used. We have used many in many different countries since we usually rent a house at least once a year. Thank you very much!

The Villa was exactly as the brochure and was lovely. Solosicily were a great company to book with. They were extremely helpful from the initial enquiry right through the holiday. Would certainly look to use them again.
